Janataa Raja- King Serfoji II


 King Serfoji II of Thanjavur was known as the scholar king.  His reign witnessed the greatest revival in literature, education, music,bharatanatyam and medical field and in fact his period was the golden period in the history of Thanjavur. He also wrote hundreds of songs in Marathi and Telugu all set in music, drama and recitals. His period brimmed with literary activities.
King Serfoji II was also called "SARVENDRA RATNADHI PATI" since he was the author of the 72 Volumes of the "SARVENDRA RATNAVLI" a compilation of the immense Knowledge & Wisdom of all the Shastras & Kalaas, that this Great King had, He was A True "JANATAA~RAJA". 
He also enriched Sarasvati Mahal Library.
