prince of thanjavur, shrimant Tulajendra rajah bhosle (1916 A.D-1999 A.D) son of shrimant pratap simha rajah bhosle chatrapathi born on 30th september 1916 and he had his early education in the maratha school and kalyanasundaram high school at thanjavur. he was scholar in english and french and was well versed in tamil, english, marathi, and hindi languages. as a descendent of maharajah serfoji ll, he had a strong knowledge of the history of marathas of maharashtra and thanjavur. he was the senior most member in the royal family. he was holding the position of board of governor (life) of the saraswathi mahal library and member (treasurer) of the art gallery, thanjavur. he was also an lover of tanjore art and he himself worked on many royal potraits. he was interested in collecting coins and playing games particularly tennis and badminton.

he was holding many positions in various fields.
1) thanjavur district court receiver as per O.S no.3/1919 for kottur thottam estate (royal family estate)
2) heriditory trustee of mathosri H.H anusamba baisaheb trust (private),thiruvaiyaru.
3)heriditory trustee of shri vedapureeswara swami temple lands in thiruvedikudi endowed by his father late pratap simha rajah.
4)patron,southern maratha central association,thanjavur
5)chairman, marathi abhyas parishad,thanjavur
6) life member, bruhan maharashtra mandal, new delhi and chairman 40th B.M mandal conference committee held at thanjavur during 1983-84.
7)chairman, senior citizens council thanjavur
8)life member, maharashtra samaj and chairman of the building fund, thanjavur.
9) founder/chairman of Maharajah Serfoji 2 memorial hall museum, sadar mahal palace Thanjavur

12) president, thanjavur town congress commitee. in his time he conducted zonal conferences in thanjavur,trichy, and south arcot districts.
13) member, selection committee for appointment of vice chancellor to tamil university in 1981.

Posted by Prince Pratap Sinh Serfoji RajeBhosle 👇👇 Today Chennai based numismatist, Venkataraman Prabhakar sir gifted me a portrait of my ancestor, King Serfoji III drawn and painted by my Grandfather, Prince.Tulajendra Rajah Bhosle. He got this portrait ten years back from an antique retailer. My grandfather was a lover of Tanjore art and he himself worked on many royal portraits. He did portraits of all the Maratha rulers of Thanjavur and some are still displayed at Sadar Mahal Palace's private museum.He signed all his completed portraits as T.R Bhosle (that means Tulajendra Rajah Bhosle).In this portrait he had mentioned the name of the King and the  year of his reign, my grandfather's signature is seen  and in extreme right, the relationship of him with the king (stated as grandfather).
