Tourist attraction in Thanjavur palace

Marble Statue of  Maharajah Serfoji the second at Thanjavur Art gallery museum, Palace complex. This marble statue was made in 18th century by Italian sculpturist. this statue is divided into 4 portions.

Arsenal tower (Art Gallery) also known as 'Koodagopuram' is a 192 feet tall pyramidal structure with eight floors. It was built by Nayaks in 1645 A.D and was used for various military purposes.The top floor was used as a watch tower, and the remaining floors were used to store arms and ammunition. The second floor was exclusively used for the kings martial arts training. Tower was used to keep arms and ammunition in olden days. In present below the tower is an Art gallery housing stone sculptures and chola period icons and also a Marble Statue of Tanjore Maratha Scholar king Serfoji ||
The biggest cannon in India "Raja Gopalan Beerangi" a huge cannon placed at the Eastern gate of the Thanjavur Palace complex.The place is called "Beerangi medu". The cannon is amazing in size and the quality speaks of the metallurgical knowledge of the people of those times. This is the largest cannon in India. It is said to be installed in the Nayaka's Period and been once used by them. It is 24.65 feet and said to be fabricated in 1600-45 during the reign of Ragunatha Nayak. The cannon has not rusted due to a protective passive film.
