One of the unique activities taken up by HSM is the celebration of important historical days with an aim to prevent erosion of patriotic values amongst the youth and inculcate a sense of pride in their minds about the Indian History. On 14th January, 2019 the Panipat Yuddh Shourya Divas was celebrated by HSM at Panipat where HH. Shri. Shivajiraje Bhosale, Thanjavur was present. He had then honoured the Peshwa family represented by Shrimant Mahendrasinha Peshwa with a battle honour and also honoured around 60+ present-day descendants of various Maratha fighters who led down their lives for the Hindavi Swarajya. Since then HSM has decided to celebrate 4 important days of Maratha History primarily – Hindavi Swarajya Shapath Din (27th April), Atak Vijay Din (10th August), Dakshin Digvijay Din (6th October) and Panipat Shourya Din (14th January) every year. The next Panipat Shourya Din shall be celebrated on 12th January, 2020 in Pune in a very grand manner.

Recently a delegation of the HSM met the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command Lt. Gen. S. K. Saini in Pune. The Army Commander has approved the request of HSM to play the Military Band at the Lal Mahal (Childhood residence of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Pune) and the Shaniwar Wada (The Headquarters of Peshwas in Pune) on alternate Sundays. He has also in principle approved the request of holding recruitment rallies at foothills of various forts in Maharashtra and also in Mulshi and Maval Talukas of Pune District to give a chance to the youth from martial families who constituted the main force in the armies of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Shrimant Bajirao Peshwa. The Army Commander advised the delegation to take up the mantle of training these youth for the written exam so that they get selected in the army. The HSM has started working on the same and soon the efforts will bear excellent results.

Various issues discussed at the today’s meeting include expansion of the activities of the HSM in nooks and corners of India wherever the Marathas Empire had spread by roping in as members various historical families and also youth who wish to contribute to the society. For this purpose a Yuva Samiti and a Mahila Samiti has been formed. Yuva Samiti is led by Shri. Bhushansingh Holkar (Descendant of Malharrao Holkar) while the Mahila Samiti is led by Begum Shaheen Bahadur of Banda (Descendant of Nawab Samsher Bahadur). Further, a Karyakari Samiti of volunteers has also been formed.

A pavilion of Marahta Historical Families shall be formed at “Zapoorza” at Khadakwasla in Pune which is a cultural centre promoted by PNG & Sons Group. This pavilion will showcase the history of great Maratha Sardars and Administrators of the Maratha Empire.

District & Zonal Committees are also being formed to spread the work of HSM. Sardar Shri. Vishwajeet Gaderao has been appointed as the President of the Thanjavur zone of HSM.

For Hindavi Swarajya Mahasangh
